DENVER:
Responding to President Donald Trump's TruthSocial post last night featuring an outrageously racist depiction of former President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama, ProgressNow Colorado, the state's largest multi-issue progressive advocacy organization, demanded that Colorado Republicans at every level finally speak out and condemn their President's naked and unapologetic bigotry.

"During Black History Month, we celebrate the culture and contributions of Black Americans to our national heritage, and also remember our nation's terrible history of slavery and racist oppression," said ProgressNow Colorado executive director Sara Loflin. "President Trump's shameful racist smear against the Obamas during Black History Month is a reminder that racial prejudice is still alive and even thriving at the highest levels of power in America. We can't keep looking away and making excuses while Donald Trump tears apart the bonds that make America great."

"Gabe Evans, Jeff Crank, Lauren Boebert, and Jeff Hurd have an obligation to ignore threats from the White House and condemn Trump's blatant racism," said Loflin. "Their silence while Donald Trump denigrates people of color everywhere at this point amounts to tacit approval. The time has come to run away from Trump for good, or face the voters of Colorado in November as Trump's enablers."
