Vote YES on Amendment 87 to Protect Colorado's Future
Yesterday, the Colorado Secretary of State released the final—but still unofficial—list of ballot measures we’ll be voting on statewide this November. It’s going to be one of the longest ballots in the state’s history.
But there’s one measure that stands out as a potential game-changer in a state that struggles year after year to provide essential services amid devastating cuts from Washington, D.C. The graduated income tax measure we’ve been talking about for months finally has a name: Amendment 87, the Income Tax Fairness Act.
And the campaign to pass it needs your help.
Under Amendment 87, 97% of Colorado taxpayers will get an income tax cut. People who make over $500,000 a year will see a small increase. The result will be $2 billion in revenue every year to help cover the things we need most: healthcare, child care for working families, and education.
A graduated income tax isn’t “socialism.” It’s just fairness. With policy in Washington D.C. favoring huge tax breaks for the wealthiest Americans and sweeping cuts to safety net programs that working families rely on, it’s up to the states to make up the difference. The so-called “One Big Beautiful Bill” forced our state to make over a billion dollars in cuts to balance the budget, with more cuts on the way year after year unless we take action.
For decades, our state has struggled under self-imposed spending limits and often conflicting spending mandates that tie lawmakers’ hands when it comes to addressing today’s priorities. Amendment 87 represents the biggest opportunity in years to break this cycle of perpetual fiscal crisis and deliver the essential services that keep Colorado moving forward.
You can help. The Amendment 87 campaign is driven by small donations, and will be staffed with volunteers just like you. If you’re looking to join a campaign this election season that will make an impact long after today’s politicians retire, Amendment 87 is the opportunity you’ve been waiting for.
We’re excited to be part of the coalition to pass Amendment 87, a real game-changer for Colorado. Join us today.
