Gutless Gabe Watch for the week of 3/15/2026
Last week, Rep. Gabe Evans was on an "in-district work period," but you wouldn't know it if you lived in the district since Evans was as usual nowhere to be found. On Monday, Evans attended a scripted non-public event with Energy Secretary Chris Wright to shift the blame over skyrocketing gas prices due to Trump's war on Iran. Energy Secretary Wright later caused global chaos on energy markets by falsely claiming that the U.S. Navy is escorting oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz.
Later in the week, Evans wrote another guest opinion piece running cover for Trump's unpopular war on Iran, claiming "regime change is not the mission" after Trump earlier said it was. Most recently, Rep. Evans claims that anyone who objects to Trump's war on Iran "can never be proud to be American," even though the war has divided loyal MAGA Republicans.
Meanwhile, Coloradans wonder, "Am I going to be able to drive next week?"
Here are some shareable graphics we distributed during recess week to hold Evans accountable:
Gutless Gabe was too busy to show up to Republican caucuses in his district.
Gutless Gabe blames Democrats for the DHS shutdown rather than taking responsibility for ICE overreach.
Gutless Gabe once again takes ‘100%’ credit for passage of the unpopular Republican budget bill:
"So on any given day, you know, I’m potentially 50 to 100% of that majority," Evans told KHOW host Ryan Schuiling, referring to the one or two votes that have been the margin of victory for House Republicans on key legislation. "Probably the biggest piece of legislation was the One Big Beautiful bill, the Working Families Tax Cut Act. That passed through the United States House of Representatives by one vote."
The message: While Gabe Evans makes excuses for Trump's war on Iran just like he did for Trump's disastrous tariffs and the Republican budget bill that slashed funding for Medicaid and food assistance, working families in Colorado's Eighth District pay the price. Gabe Evans chooses loyalty to Trump over Colorado's best interests every time.
