The Winner: Gutless Gabe Evans

A few weeks ago, we contacted you asking for help branding the most vulnerable member of Congress in America, Colorado's far-right Trump toady Gabe Evans.

And you responded, choosing from our list of suggestions and submitting lots of clever ideas of your own.

With your help, we're here to announce today the winner of our first-ever crowdsourced political branding exercise!

Colorado's most competitive congressional district needs a strong mainstream voice who advocates tirelessly for the needs of the working families of Adams County and Greeley. Instead, they got Gutless Gabe Evans: a two-faced toady of Donald Trump who pretends to care about his constituents while voting against their best interests over and over. Gabe Evans promised Trump's mass deportations would focus on "gangsters, not grandmas," then made excuses while ICE made a mockery of his pledge. Gabe Evans even compared Trump's disastrous tariffs to a game of pool, but it's families and businesses in Evans' district who were behind the proverbial eight ball until the Supreme Court stepped in.

Gutless Gabe Evans has failed Colorado.

The Runners-Up

Gouging Gabe

"Gouging Gabe" is a nickname Colorado families can feel in their pocketbooks. From higher prices that Trump and Evans failed to bring down as promised to painful cuts to health care and food assistance making it harder for families to make ends meet, there's no question that we're all getting gouged by "Gouging Gabe."

Gone Gabe

Rep. Gabe Evans' constituents have gotten the cold shoulder from "Gone Gabe" ever since he took office with Trump a year ago. Evans carefully avoids unscripted public interaction with the residents of his district. Unannounced visits to friendly confines far from unwanted questions are the rule, and telephone town halls where Evans chooses the questions he wants to answer. When Gabe Evans does show up in his district, it's often to run cover for budget cuts he voted for.

Evasive Evans

Anyone who has watched Gabe Evans be interviewed knows that Evans doesn't give straight answers, even to simple questions. "Evasive Evans" has a set of talking points and he sticks to them no matter what the headlines say. Gabe Evans insisted that 100% of ICE arrests were proper as evidence to the contrary piled up. Evans refused to admit that he had voted for cuts to Medicaid and food assistance programs in the federal budget bill. Evans even voted to dismantle the election system we use in Colorado that got him elected.

Naturally, you can call Gabe Evans whatever you like–and there were a lot of great suggestions. But we agree with our members that “Gutless Gabe” sums up the problem with Rep. Gabe Evans, and it’s the brand we’re adopting for Gabe Evans until November.

After that, hopefully, we won’t need it anymore.
