Proposition NN: More funding for K-12 public schools
Vote YES on Proposition NN
Proposition NN asks Colorado voters whether the state should increase investment in K-12 public education. This investment would be made through a gradual increase of 2% of the previous year’s budget each year for the next ten years. Over ten years, Proposition NN could increase public education funding in Colorado by as much as 50%.
NN would not increase taxation; the proposition is asking voters for permission to reallocate state funds and make it easier for the government to put tax dollars into education. NN will circumvent arbitrary limits set by TABOR that restrict the state's ability to invest in public education.
This proposition is intended to alleviate current difficulties in public education including class size, teacher pay, and access to technical courses. Proposition NN will help ensure that each student receives the individual attention and resources necessary to thrive. NN will also support teachers and educational staff by increasing salaries, jobs, and access to professional development. It would modernize Colorado’s educational funding infrastructure and ensure financial stability and resiliency.
